A USB Port, also referred to as a USB Hub, is a device that allows many USB devices to be connected to a single USB port unit on a host computer. USB hubs are sometimes built into equipment, such as keyboards, monitors, printers, or computers. When a computer has several USB ports they all usually stem from one or two internal USB hubs rather than each port having independent USB hardware.
USB Flash Drives are often used for the same purposes as floppy disks were - a USB Flash Drive consists of portable memory data storage. They are smaller, faster, have thousands of times more capacity, and are more durable and reliable due to their lack of moving parts. Until approximately 2005, most PC and laptop computers were supplied with floppy disc drives, but most recent equipment has abandoned floppy disk drives in favor of USB ports.
